Beautiful Transitional Decor Pieces from Fall to Winter

Hello my lovely friends! Today I wanted to talk a little bit about how to find beautiful decor pieces that are functional for both the fall and the winter seasons. Both fall and winter are two of my favorite seasons to decorate for. Especially around the holidays. Unfortunately, I feel like it is fairly safe to say that most of us do not have the excess amount of dollars to go crazy on a decor budget for each individual season.

This can make life a bit complicated when you think about how much you want to beautify your space during each particular season. But have no fear! I've created a fun list of different decor items that you can use to transition into both seasons that look fantastic around your home.

In the fall, if you are anything like me, you have pumpkins around every inch of your home and during Christmas there may be lights everywhere. These are not the decor pieces I am referring to. You want to pick pieces that are more neutral in their function but add a level of texture to each season. What exactly do I mean by that? Follow along my lovelies!

Plaid

There is so much plaid out in the fall (especially if you have been in Target recently). Plaid is perfect for not only fall but winter as well. The style that goes along with a great plaid item is completely transitional. I would stick to deep color tones (burgundy, dark blue, deep orange). All of these will translate into both seasons and look fantastic around your home. Grabbing a gorgeous deep color plaid blanket to accent your sofa or bed is functional for your fall activities and winter gatherings!

Check out this super snuggly plaid blanket from Pier 1 Imports

Gold Accents

Gold is everywhere right now and it is the perfect color to transition from fall to winter. The best part about the color gold is that you can find it in candy dishes, pillows, vases, table runners, chargers, cheese platters....just about anything. If you are having gatherings at your home for any one of the fall/winter holidays (or even multiple ones) then purchasing gold accent pieces is a perfect way to save some bucks. Each one of these pieces can easily flow from one season to the next.

You can fins these lovelies at Target and Pier 1 Imports

Wire Baskets

I love baskets of all kinds which I have mentioned quite a lot recently both here and here. I have yet to really talk about metal wire baskets however. Mainly because I don't have many in my home. Recently I found this adorable wire basket from Michaels. I have found it to be the perfect home accent and holder of the tiny pumpkins. (Everyone needs a place for the tiny pumpkins to go!) What I love so much about the wire baskets is that you can see through them, allowing your decor of choice to be showcased. This month it is pumpkins, but come Christmas it will transition to pine combs!

Bakery Fresh Candles

America is on a candle craze ya'll!! And I am right there with everyone. I have multiple candles burning in my home regularly. They add the perfect scent to the decor. I find decor to be an overall experience, so having something to excite your sense of smell is a part of that. Instead of jumping around from one seasonal scent to another, I find the best candles to purchase are bakery fresh scents. The apple pies, pumpkin spice, baked goods kind of scents. These burn beautifully both in the fall and the winter, giving you the sensation of yummy treat goodness throughout the seasons.

Wood Items

I love wood items that accent the home. They give off the perfect masculine vibe to the soft designs that come along with the holidays. Wood can be used for so much. Similar to the gold accents, you can use wood as a three-tiered tray, throughout your table centerpieces, for your chargers, as different serving bowls...again, pretty much anywhere. These are also perfect for transitioning seasons because the three-tiered tray that held your pumpkins in the fall can hold your Christmas cookies in the winter!

You can find this beauty at Pottery Barn

I hope that some of these tips were helpful for your seasonal home decorating. Like I mentioned in the beginning, fall and winter decorating is my favorite!! But with these helpful tips, I can reuse some of those seasonal purchases and stretch them to incorporate more than just one season.

I would love to hear what items you use through both the fall and winter! Is there anything I didn't mention that you find to be the perfect transitional decor piece??

And if you want to find some more amazing decor ideas, you can always follow along with me on Instagram, where I am constantly posting lovely pictures from around my home!

Fun & Easy Pumpkin Treat Recipe

So I want to preface this post with a bit of a public service announcement. I am fully aware that Pinterest has made us all a bit perfectionist obsessed. Especially when putting together a blog post. You want a perfect DIY with gorgeous photos and you want to be able to teach something great to your readers. However, sometimes things do not go as planned.

I originally wanted to name this post, Where Good Blogging Intentions Go to Die. Actually, I originally didn't want to post this at all because my DIY was a bit of a fail (in the perfectionist category). But the truth of the matter is, I had soooo much fun doing it. My hubs helped me out and we laughed together for hours while we were working on these pumpkin treats. And in the end that is really all that matters.

So here we go with my fun little mini pumpkin treats!

First we need to start off with the Ingredients for the Pumpkin Spice Cakes:
*2 Sticks of butter (softened)
*2 1/2 Cups of all-purpose Flour
*2 tsp. of Baking Powder
*1 tsp. of Baking Soda
*2 tsp. of Cinnamon
*1/2 tsp. of Nutmeg
*1/2 tsp. of Salt
*1 (15oz) Can of Pumpkin Puree
*3/4 Cup of Buttermilk
*1 tsp. of Vanilla Extract
*1 1/4 Cups of Granulated Sugar
*3 Large Eggs
*Orange Frosting
*Mini Tootsie Rolls

Next you want to grab your mini bunt cake pan and follow these directions:

Your oven is going to be preheated at 350 Degrees F. Next you are going to want to spray your cooking spray into the mini bunt pan and sprinkle some flour over where you just sprayed. This helps your cakes from sticking to the edges. When you're finished, just shake off any excess flour.

You are going to need two larger bowls for the next part. In one of those bowls, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt, and whisk them together.

In your other bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, buttermilk, and vanilla extract by stirring those up.

If you have any electric mixer, you're gonna wanna pull that out at this point. In your mixer, beat the butter and sugar on a medium speed until they are combined well and fluffy looking. This usually takes about 3 minutes. Next you want to add your 3 eggs and beat those in for an additional minute.

Now it's time to add those two other bowls into your mixture. You're going to rotate between the dry ingredient bowl and the wet ingredient bowl. It's best to start and end with the dry. Each time you add another portion of the ingredients, mix them into your fun sugar concoction. Do this until it is smooth but do not over beat it.

Next you want to place the mixture into your mini bunt pan. Do not fill it all the way up or it will create a large top (I'm speaking from experience because the picture below is well over filled! So don't follow that lol). You are then going to want to put this in the oven for about 25 minutes. You want to be able to put a tooth pick into the cakes and then pull it out clean.

It helps if these are more on the cooked side then the soft side. It'll be easier to work with later on that way. Take the pan out and let the mini cakes fully cool. (You can tell in this picture how much I over filled them. However, I will say it was easier to get them out this way.)

Next you want to cut off the muffin top. We placed our extra tops in the fridge to keep for breakfast treats later on.

Once the tops are cut off you are going to take a bit of the orange frosting and spread it where that top just was. Using a separate mini cake, and the frosting as glue, put the two together so that they are bottom to bottom and create a fun circle (pumpkin).

Now you simply decorate the entire "pumpkin" with the orange icing. make sure you cover the whole thing. When you are finished, you can place a mini tootsie roll in the center of the bunt to give your mini pumpkin a stem.

Like I said in the beginning, these were not exactly the picture perfect snack I had been hoping for. But we had a blast putting them together. They are perfect for a fun family Holiday treat and activity. And what they lacked in design, they made up for in taste. These treats were absolutely delicious!! Enjoy my lovely friends!!

Interior Design Rules for a Beautiful Home Makeover

Hello my lovely friends! I am bringing you a guest post today from the beautiful Patricia, owner of  Kitchen Fitting Paddington. I hope you enjoy these fun design rules she's put together for ya'll to help create a beautiful makeover!

If you want to transform the look of your home, so that it can become more comfortable and stylish, you definitely need to follow some basic interior design rules. You may think that it's child's play to rearrange the rooms in a perfect way but I assure you that in case you underestimate the details, you may fail to receive your dream home makeover.

Here you have two options – either to search for professional consultation with interior home designers, or to deal with the home renovation all by yourself. If you choose the second one, you will probably need to take into account the following lines, that will help you quickly catch up with the rules that exist in the interior-design world.

Photo Cred

You do not need to be an expert to manage your home makeover but it will certainly help you to realize the fact that you shouldn't spend all of your money to have a beautifully designed home. So you had better make sure that every item and furniture fits in the whole idea of the interior design that you have chosen.

Photo Cred
Think of Softening the Corners

As most of the furniture in rooms have 90 degree angles, you need to do something about the softening of the corners. You can think of a different perspective for the chairs, tables and rugs by choosing such ones with rounded edges. By adding a round coffee table or round rug, you can certainly create a more welcoming atmosphere in the room.

Choose the Appropriate Chandelier

Lighting plays a great role for the interior design of the room and that is why you need to choose a chandelier that will ideally match the furniture and the carpets. One important rule for the situating of the chandeliers is to hang it directly above the table, when living rooms are concerned. As for the distance that is left between the chandelier and the floor, 60 inches will be usually more than enough to make the perfect symmetry.

A Word For the Artwork

Hanging artwork, should also be logical so do not try to escape from the rules. The 57-inch rule can be applied for all the rooms in your home. Hang the artwork in a way that the middle of the picture is fixed no more than 57 inches from the ground. The same rule goes for the beautiful mirrors that you plan to hang on the walls. The exception being in the cases when the object is above a sofa or a headboard.

Think Functionally

You have probably thought of an amazing and even sophisticated design for your rooms. In fact, there is nothing wrong in having such innovative ideas, however, keep in mind the real amount of money that you want to invest in this project. Nowadays there is a great diversity of modern and stylish ideas for home designs that can ideally suit your budget, so do not fall for the first idea that has caught your attention.

These are just a few basic rules that you can follow when you decide to take up a makeover of your home. If you take them into account you can manage with your project without asking for professional consultation from home designers. After you have finished with the procedures, do not forget to provide excellent cleaning of the rooms in order to ensure the perfect home environment. Now that you are well acquainted with the most important rules of the interior design world, you can start with the beautiful makeover of your home.

October Happenings // Coffee Date Linkup

October has been a whirlwind kind of month. I honestly feel like the month was never even here and I can't believe it's already time for another monthly happenings post. I am starting to truly love these and enjoy linking up with the lovely Jenna from Gold & Bloom as well as some incredible bloggers. It's great to take a step back and see how everyone has been doing throughout the month, highs, lows, exciting things to look forward to....it all makes me super happy.

So grab your coffee and let's talk about what's been happening in October!

I ended last month by talking about the need to rest, and boy did I truly mean that. I took my own advice seriously (we have to do that sometimes) and my hubby and I headed to Italy for almost half the month. It was beautiful. We toured the northern portion and covered 9 different cities in 11 days. I am in the middle of preparing a bunch of posts for the upcoming month on the entire journey!

In my August Happenings post I talked all about starting the cheerleading season. It has been a crazy season indeed and the girls have been really working hard to get ready for competition season. November will be a crazy month of nothing but competition all weekend long and I'm getting pumped for what's right around the corner!

When I returned home from Italy, I had the awesome opportunity of catching up on all of my blog reading. (I didn't even realize how much I've come to love reading them until I was without my favorite blogs for a few weeks!) That is when I stumbled upon my dear friend Ashley's post on her Night Owl Gift Guide and she kindly reminded me that Christmas is only 8 weeks away!?! A whaaaaaat??? Yeah, this girl needs to start preparing for real!

I very excitedly announced my blog's new adventure in this post, that the name has officially changed! Not only that but the over all purpose will be to show you just how to keep your space comfortable, no matter where you are in life. I did an even deeper description on my brand new About Me page, so definitely check it out!

I would say to round this month out, I started playing around with candle making. And funny thing is, I really enjoy it alot. I fully believe that it is therapeutic when we are being creative. Take that and add in the lovely scents from the oils as you are creating and it is a truly relaxing hobby.

Now it is time to hear from you, my lovely friends! How has your month been going? Any stresses, wins, exciting adventures?? I would love to hear about it all!

How to Declutter 101

Hello my loves! I know we've all been a little more than Pinterest obsessed in the past few years. Comparing yourself to the Pin worthy homes you've always dreamed of can quickly become a slippery slope as you glance around at the clutter filling your own home. Learning how to declutter your space in fun and creative ways can accent your home to give it the Pinable feel you so desire.

Storage Ottomans

Ottomans are a great way to stylishly accent your space, while staying perfectly functional by hiding any access clutter around the home. They have become a huge furniture staple in the recent years and for good cause. Depending on the size of the ottoman, these lovelies are perfect for storing warm blankets, winter clothes, DVDs, remotes, the possibilities are endless. Check out these gorgeous ottomans from Pier 1 ImportsWayfairPottery Barn, and Overstock.

Containers & Baskets

I've already talked about my love for baskets here and it couldn't be more true. They are the perfect decorative item that adds style and function to a room. I keep baskets all over my home (basket hoarder extraordinaire lol) that hold shoes, magazines, office supplies, and more! Having creative containers around the home can be great for storage as well. I purchased an adorable metal tub from a yardsale last year that sits in my living and holds snuggly blankets throughout the winter. Here are some of my favorite containers and baskets online from  MichaelsTarget, Home Depot, and  The Container Store.

Reevaluate Your Stuff

We all have stuff that takes over our spaces and lives. Most of our clutter is made up of "stuff" that, if we truly evaluated it, we would realize is not necessary to keep in our homes. You do not need to hold on to your 5th grade report card or every book you've ever read. Go through the stuff you have around your home once a year and determine whether it is a necessity or it's something that can be tossed. I love giving to Goodwill and the Vietnam Veterans regularly. And the Vets organization will even pick up straight from your home!

Clear Your Closet

Growing up my mom would always say, "If you haven't put it on your body in a full year, then get rid of it." This could not be more true in all of our lives. Holding on to clothes that you never wear will only make your clutter grow. Bag up those clothes that either no longer fit, are way too worn, or you have not placed on your body all year. These too can head to Goodwill or they can be organized for a fun family yardsale that makes you some extra bucks as well!

Hook It Up

I love finding wood pieces with hooks on them. I use them for hanging keys, clothes, towels...you name it, I hang it. Finding decorative hooks and hangers is a great way to add style to your space while also remaining functional. (Hey gee...is there a theme going on here?? I believe there is!) Function and style are great together and I find no greater organizational skill then using them to declutter your home. And if you are feeling super creative, you can make your own hook display by purchasing great pieces at Hobby Lobby. You may also find perfect premade hooks from Pier 1 ImportsHome Goods, and Kirkland's.

Decluttering your home is the perfect way to lead your house to its Pin worthy picture self, daily. When things are clean and clutter free, it sets up your space to allow organization to be the predominate feature of your home. This allows you to stay stress free with minimal "stuff" clouding up the view of the area around you. When my home has been decluttered, it allows me to get comfortable in the space around me.

How do you declutter your home? Any tips and tricks that can help us all out?

I feel privileged to write for you and can't wait to continue to see what the future holds.

With that being said, I wanted to let you in on the exciting announcement that today, big changes are coming to Enjoy this Beautiful Season. I've had a blast over this past year writing under this exact title, talking about different seasons of life, and sharing my life with everyone.

I've been spending many months praying over the direction of this blog and everything it has to offer to you, my incredible reader. God has very much placed it on my heart to keep my focus headed in one very specific direction. This includes learning how to make any space that you are in, a comfortable home for that time period. I've rewritten my About me page to better explain this transition and I urge you to go check it out so you can receive a clearer picture.

So that leads us to the big announcement...the new name of my lovely home on the internet.
Drum roll please.....

Comfortable Spaces

I feel like I need to be throwing the confetti sticks that Kelly and Michael use on Live every morning. I'm that stinking excited about this change! So imagine large bits of confetti floating all around you at this exact moment as you're reading!

Continuing into the future, we will be focusing on how to create a home out of any space you may be in, no matter what season of life you may be tackling. I also want to take time to explore how we can become more comfortable with allowing God into the separate spaces in our lives. Giving Him full reign over our decisions, thoughts, and attitudes.

One of my true passions in life is beautifying spaces, which you can check out on my Home Design page. This is a compilation I created just for you that shows great ways to make your living space super comfy as well as tips and tricks for redecorating. I am in the process of helping to redecorate another home and can't wait to bring you even more fun facts about this exciting process.

I feel so completely blessed from the journey I have been on with Enjoy this Beautiful Season. It has taught me so much and introduced me to some incredible new friends. I absolutely love having you on this adventure with me. I count each and every one of my readers as a true blessing. I can't wait to take the lessons learned into an entirely new season of blogging with Comfortable Spaces

To kick off this lovely new season I will be bringing you a series all about how to remain comfortable while you travel. I was recently on a two week tour of the northern half of Italy and loved every second of it! I can't wait to show you some tips and tricks of comfortable travel as well as some incredible pictures from the trip.

I love you all so much and can't wait to share this new journey with you all!

I am Established // Guest Posting on Clear the Way

Hello my lovely readers! I wanted to take the time to introduce you to a lovely writer, Kate, from the blog Clear the Way. She gave me a wonderful opportunity to post for her last week during her One Word series. I truly love this series. She invites guest bloggers to come on to her site, gives them one word to write about, and then lets the magic happen. This month the word is Establish. I had a blast writing about it and wanted to give you a fun little preview to enjoy. So here we go!

Establish
No need to establish, for I am established.
Not because I’ve earned it or even deserve it but simply because I am loved by truth. My story is already weaved and even if I leave the light, it doesn’t matter.
He will find me and wrap me up so securely in His arms. His breath, the wind that whispers into the depths of my soul, you are lovely. I sit back and realize,
I am established.

How to Make Your Wedding's Theme, Colors, and Styles Flow

I've been loving writing for Willow House Magazine as well as reading all of the fabulous content they print regularly! Here is my newest post on creating a weding theme, colors, and style that all flow together. Enjoy!

Weddings are the one day almost every little girl dreams about. The flowers, the dress, the cake…all pieces of a meticulous puzzle that culminate this perfect day. But how do we create this picturesque day? How do we weave together each intricate design to create a flow that represents us and our marriage to be?
I went through this exact journey a few years ago and learned so much from the process. I learned how to mesh styles, colors, and the theme so that they would flow together seamlessly. So here are a few great tips for you to help inspire your wedding day design.

EXAMINE WHAT YOU BOTH LOVE TO DO AS A COUPLE.

The first thing you want to do is sit down as a couple and examine what you love together. For example, some of our favorite hobbies include traveling, eating exotic food, antiquing, drinking coffee, and lying on the beach. Choosing one or two of these favorites will help you to create an overall theme. After you’ve chosen the theme, incorporate some of your other favorites into smaller accents.

6 Great Tips for an Intentional Marriage // Guest Post by Tiffany King

My incredible friends and readers, I love bringing you quality reads. Whether the words are mine or a friend's, I love to help inspire, encourage, and bring light into your lives. One of the incredible parts about blogging is creating new friendships and I am excited to introduce you to a beautiful new friend with a gorgeous heart for marriage. She put together this lovely list of tips for creating an intentional marriage. Enjoy friends!!

Hello, I am Tiffany, the writer behind In All Things, a faith and lifestyle blog. I am so honored that Danielle has allowed me to come to her space for a bit and share tips on how to be intentional in your marriage. Although I am a little less than a year into this journey, I have picked up quite quickly that if you don't have a plan for keeping your marriage strong, it will begin to fail. It's like if you neglect to brush and floss your teeth, cavities and tooth decay are sure to follow.

Create a marriage vision

I think a lot of people go into a marriage with expectations that can be unrealistic and could end up unmet. It's important that you both are on the same page and give your marriage direction. This will redirect you if you find yourselves off track. So sit down with one another and discuss how you envision your marriage to be. Then have "check-ins" to revisit if it's working or not, or if there needs to be improvement. For example, I thought my husband expected me to cook every single day and have our place spotless. Trying to do that daily and work was exhausting (kudos to y'all who have mastered that skill! You're the real MVP!). But little did I know, until we sat and talked about it, that he didn't expect that from me at all! And we don't just talk about our expectations, we also talk about our goals for our marriage and what we want it to look like. Then, we set times when we come together and see how that's working out. This could be every six months, every year, etc.

Create a mission statement

Along the lines of creating a vision for your marriage, it's a great idea to create a list of values and standards you want your marriage to abide by. For example, you can have "we will be a couple who doesn't go to bed angry at one another" or "we will extend grace to one another." This will help you focus on being true to your marriage and keep you accountable.

Go on dates

Never stop dating each other! And don't just go on dates, plan your dates. It can be so easy for the month to just fly on by due to hectic schedules, commitments and just plain old life. Sit down and plan out your date(s) for the month and then put them on your calendar. If you have children, schedule a babysitter in advance. Treat it as an important meeting, because it is. Try to make the dates a variety of things instead of always going to dinner and a movie. Go mini golfing. Take a trip to a museum or concert. Need free ideas? Head over to Pinterest and they will help you out! Some free dates could be making a new dessert recipe together, hiding out in a fort in your living room, or watching the stars in your backyard or on your patio.

Unplug together

Speaking of dates, plan a getaway every now and then without your phones, laptops, social media, etc. This is perfect during your vacation or staycation. My husband and I actually try to unplug every three months to relax and reignite that flame (I blogged about it here).

Be best friends

What do you and your best friend do? Do those with each other.  Text each other how your day is going. Tony and I love sending funny memes to each other. But you can tell each other about your day (some share in what the peak and pit of their day is), watch your favorite shows together, or just laugh together.

Pray

Finally, pray hard for your marriage, spouse, and yourself. We know that marriage comes from God and that Satan loves to destroy anything of God. So it makes sense that he will try to destroy your marriage. Don't let him. Put on the armor of God (Ephesians 6) and pray that God continues to strengthen your relationship with each other. Pray for anything your spouse struggles with. Pray for what you struggle with. Ask God to show you how to be the  wife or husband your spouse needs. Keep God at the center of your marriage and He will guide you on how to be intentional!

There are so many ways you can be intentional with your marriage. Does it take work? You bet! But it is work that is so beyond worth it! Let me know your tips for being purposeful in your marriage!
