DIY His & Hers Coffee Mugs

My hubby and I have been in a phase of trying to find new and fun things to do together. It can be really easy to get into a habit of sitting on the couch night after night and watching our favorite shows. But we both know that our marriage was made for more than that. We want to invest into it by doing entertaining things that don't always include a television.

That leads me to our craft night Saturday. I love that my hubby is adventurous and that we don't always have to do super manly things to enjoy each others company. He really is up for anything and I love that about him.

Back to craft night Saturday. Something we both love a ton is coffee. So I thought creating our very own his & hers coffee mugs would be a great way to spend time with each other while creating an item we will use regularly.

Here are all the supplies you will need to put together your very own craft night mug for you and your love to enjoy!

First your going to want to grab two of your favorite style mugs. I found both of these at Wegmans for around $3 each. Cute and inexpensive....yes please!

Next you are going to need to find an oil based sharpie in your favorite color. I picked up a silver and a gold from Walmart (and I think they were in the same package).

Start off by wiping the mug down with rubbing alcohol to get rid of any of the oils from your hands. Then figure out what it is you want to print across your mug. My hubby and I laughed as we tried to come up with good quotes and ideas. We finally settled on what we wanted and wrote them out.

Let those sit over night (for about 24 hours) so that the sharpie marker sets better. Also, a little tip to drawing, if you make a mistake, no worries. You simply need to use the rubbing alcohol and it will wipe right off.

Finally you will place the mugs in the oven for 30 minutes on 425 degrees. Make sure that the oven is cold when you place the mugs in and allow them to warm with the oven. This will prevent them from warming to fast and shattering. Once the 1/2 hour is finished, allow them to cool in the oven as well.

And that's pretty much it! Fill her up with your favorite coffee and enjoy with your sweetie!

I hope you've enjoyed this tutorial! It was such a fun little project that I was able to share with my hubby. And now we have mugs to drink our favorite beverage out of every morning. You can't get more perfect than that!

What types of fun projects do you love to do with your better half?

If you make your own mugs I would love for you to show me over on Instagram! Just tag me so I can see your lovely creation!
